the neurotypical child
When class ended the pencil crayons didn’t want to go back into their box. At first, people at school were perplexed, "pencil crayons are meant to be in a box, that's how they stay bright and sharp." But day by day, more and more pencil crayons rebelled and retreated, yelled and stayed quiet, wiggled and froze. They began to show more and more brilliant shades and hues, they let themselves move and they felt happy. Then one day, the parents and teachers realized that the pencil crayons did not even exist anymore. Instead, what they saw before them were in fact beautiful, and unique, works of art - that just needed the the right kind of space to grow.
